The atmosphere was great!! The Italian beef sandwich was good however I am not a fan of a soggy bun when I dipped it in the gravy. I like the fact that that you can buy the beef there. The cheesy sauce was ok, nothing out of this world. Next time I want to try the burger.
Note that I am a Portillo‘s fan and shareholder so I really like the chain. I like the concepts as a family. We ordered three Italian beef with hot and sweet peppers. Added the cheese wanted it wet so you know that you’re fighting the wetness of the juice sauce versus the Firmness of the bun. You must go quickly had the crinkly fries, Chicago style, hot dog, the chicken tenders and a cheeseburger everybody seem to really enjoy it. That was a delicious experience came made to order freshly made. I would note that this is not a fat free experience, especially when you add That Italian beef so just know that going in. Very clean exterior and interior, friendly, smiling staff I like that when they call out the numbers, they added a little something special seem like everyone was kind of enjoying themselves on their job. Bathroom was very clean. Would recommend and look forward to coming back.
This was my first time visiting. Apparently they are new to the Houston area. Cashiers were really nice and helpful with options and food selection. I received a couple of coupons when I signed up on the app. You can use up to 2 per ticket. You get a free piece of cake for your birthday. We got a chili cheese dog, The Rodeo burger, the Italian beef sandwich and the spicy chicken sandwich, large fries, onion rings and cake. I was told that the Houston market doesn't offer the jumbo dogs. I liked that the hot dog had a "pop" to it when I bit into it. Perfectly cooked, not soggy. Everyone liked their choices. They offer milkshakes as well. They have a large menu with options such as salad, pastas and sandwiches. We'll be back. Hopefully they will open one in the Woodlands/Spring area soon.
After seeing some ads pop up in my social media feeds, I decided to give this place a go & am glad that I did. I first tried their $9.99 Big Burger bundle & it was a great tasting burger & fries. The burger does not taste like a typical fast food burger but more of a homemade one & it was packed with fillings which spilled out as you take your first bite, but I didn't mind that at all. I came back the next day to try their Two Hot Dogs combo meal & that was great as well. You can order from one of the 4 kiosks at the front (although my kiosk did not print out a receipt, so I had to remember my 4 digit order number shown on the screen 😊) or from an actual person at the counter. Staff were cheerful & friendly and the interior had a nice retro-style feel to it. I wish there was one closer to where I live, but I would not mind dropping by again when I'm back near the area.
Update: Sunday, March 1, 2026 Finally got a chance to visit Portillo's, but this time with family in tow. Juicy delicious burgers, great Chicago style hot dogs, and of course, my favorite Italian beef, with hot peppers, and dipped so it was soggy. I'm updating my review to 5 stars all around. Great place for lunch and dinner with delicious food and quick service. I'll need to come here more often, it's just a bit out of the way from Conroe. Previous Review: I love Portillo's. I grew up in the Chicagoland area and a Portillo's was right across the street from my house. They provided very fast service during the lunch and dinner rush. I really wanted to give this branch in Tomball 5 stars all around. But honestly, I can't. I had a simple order. 5 regular Italian beef sandwiches dipped. The order was taken correctly as she repeated the order back to me. I got home, opened the sandwiches and the bread was dry. It definitely wasn't dipped. It wasn't even extra gravy. The bread was dry. So, disappointed in the service. Disappointed in the sandwiches I got. The place was 30+ minutes away from me, so it wasn't worth it to go back to get a corrected order. I'll go back again when I'm around Tomball and give them another try. I love Portillo's. Best Italian beef sandwiches and great hot dogs and burgers. And the chocolate cake shake is delicious. So the Tomball branch gets another chance.
Absolutely LOVE the cheese and fries!!! Today we got the Beef and Chedder Cressant and shared it.....so tasty! The environment is a twist on a 50's Diner. Great amount of parking and they have a drive through for those who want to grab and go.
Been hearing about place for a while. In the area so we tried it. 50’s diner vibe music & decor. Ordered the Italian Beef with peppers, fries and drink. Wow, so good forgot to get pics! Went back the next day and got the 2 Chicago dog special with onion rings and drink. Got pictures this time. Excellent food and value. Will be working our way through the menu! You gotta try it!!
Always a great place to eat. The flavor is something very different from the Texas norm, and I think Texans just like to eat anything that has good flavor. The Italian beef gravy is what makes the sandwich. And the authentic Chicago style got dog has it's own unique flavor. Is you have not been, you owe it to yourself to give it a try. Very nice atmosphere as well. Like an upscale Whataburger vibe.
First visit and it did not disappoint! The establishment gives vibes of both fast food and restaurant style dining. We approached the counter and placed our order then waited for our number to be called. The establishment is fairly large with brightly colored decor and table/booth seating options. It was clean and the customer service was exceptional. There was a lady calling out orders over the intercom. She used quirky call outs for each order number which was a nice added touch to the experience! I ordered the Italian beef with melted cheese and it was delicious! The bread was nicely toasted, meat was juicy and flavorful and the cheese brought it all together! Highly recommend!
Busy Bee Realty was helping a client this morning and afterwards he mentioned going for the best burger in Tomball. I said Sure, thinking we would go to an old fashioned burger joint. Well, this place is old fashioned but to my surprise it’s brand new. The burger was super good, the patty was delicious, the bun was perfect too and the pickles were crisp and way better than I was expecting. Hands down, 5 stars, and just order the burger, the fries are good but the burger is GREAT!! Very nice employees too, everyone seemed happy to be there and I love that the most!!
